What is the Beyond Books Collection?
The library isn’t just books anymore! Our new collection of non-traditional items such as technology, crafts, tools, and more are now available with your library card.
A telescope, record player, an outdoor movie projector, a metal detector, a gardening kit, laser level, specialty cake pans and more will all be at your finger tips, and all it takes is a library card. This collection will be constantly growing so check back often to see the new additions. Items must be checked out on an Adult library card and some items require a signed waiver before use.

Rules and Guidelines for the Beyond Books Collection:
Guidelines for Borrowing and Use
- Objects lent out by the Library through its Beyond Books program (”Things”), may only be checked out from the Service Desk.
- A valid Worth Library card with current address in good standing is required to borrow a Thing.
- Borrowers must be 18 years or older and items must be checked out on an Adult library card.
- Borrowers must read, understand, and sign this Agreement before they checkout a Thing.
- Things can only be placed on hold by Worth patrons. Reciprocal borrowers can check out Things on site but cannot place them on hold. 2 items maximum per library card.
- Things can be checked out for 2 weeks and cannot be renewed. Items have a $1.00 per day overdue fine.
- All Things must be returned to the Worth Public Library Circulation Desk.
Proper Use and Care
- As with any Thing, use care when handling.
- Return the Thing with all parts and components.
Liability
- The borrower is solely responsible for the Thing and will be billed for reasonable repair or replacement costs associated with damage or loss of Things and/or peripherals due to neglect or abuse.
- A list of the replacement costs of Things is maintained by the Library and is available upon request.
- The responsibility to protect against loss is the borrower’s.
- Worth Public Library District is not responsible for the loss of any data while using this equipment.
A waiver must be signed for certain items. The waiver can be found here or you can sign one at the library. Once signed, it will stay in your library record.
